Laser technology offers the cinema operator the opportunity to save costs compared to conventional Xenon projectors. With no costs associated with lamp replacement, no heat extraction required and with a significantly lower power consumption, the savings are compelling. Depending on operating hours and electricity rates, the cost difference between a Laser projector and a Xenon projector can be recouped within as little as 2-3 years.
In terms of image quality, with laser technology, brightness is more uniform across the screen, the colours are perceived as more pure and brilliant and with improved contrast. Laser allows the cinema operator to vary the brightness from 30% to 100%, so that appropriate automated light levels can be set for 2D and 3D.
In terms of operational efficiency, Laser brings the benefit of extremely low maintenance requirements. In addition, there is no requirement to observe lamp status, or to procure, store or exchange lamps helping to focus operator resources elsewhere.
This is a great innovative solution, ideal for exhibitors looking to replace their existing projectors on mid-sized screens and benefit from the savings offered from this technology

Laser Phosphor
In Laser Phosphor projectors the light is produced by blue laser diodes in combination with a yellow phosphor wheel. Blue laser diodes are very common devices, being used in technologies such as blue ray players and PC drives. This makes them a very mature technology in terms of cost and reliability.
Laser Phosphor offers many advantages in terms operational efficiency as well as cost savings.
Laser Phosphor projectors are suitable for small to mid-sized screens.
RB Laser
For RB laser projection the light is produced by red and blue laser diodes, as well as a green phosphor wheel which is illuminated by a separate blue laser.
Today, green laser diodes are the most challenging technology in RGB laser systems with regards to cost and reliability. By avoiding the use of green laser diodes, RB laser systems are considerably lower in cost, yet offer the same advantages, in terms of DCI colours, image quality and daily operation, as found in RGB laser systems.
RB laser projectors are capable of achieving significantly higher light levels, higher gamut and a wider colour space than Laser Phosphor projectors. The DCI P3 colour space can be achieved without filtering.
RB Laser projectors are suitable for mid to large sized screens.
RGB / 6P / 9P laser
In RGB laser projectors light is produced by using red, green and blue laser diodes. In 6P or 9P systems a multiple of primary colours in slightly different wavelengths are used.
RGB laser systems offer outstanding image quality and can achieve an even higher colour gamut than specified by DCI which can already cover the demanding Rec. 2020 colour space.
This makes them suitable for premium and special format screens.
